The Westin W2 Super Finesse 68 1-6g is a highly specialized and sensitive spinning rod designed for the most delicate and technical of lure fishing applications. It is part of Westins W2 series, which is known for providing anglers with high-quality, purpose-built rods at an accessible price point. This particular model is engineered for finesse fishing, where the goal is to cast and work very small lures with precision and feel every subtle bite.

Key Features and Construction

• Blank: The rod is built on a high-grade 24 / 30-ton Torayca High Performance Carbon blank. Torayca is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-quality carbon fiber, and this material provides a superb balance of strength, sensitivity, and a very light weight. The blanks action is typically a fast action, which is ideal for finesse fishing. The responsive tip allows for delicate lure presentation and instantaneous bite detection.
• Length & Casting Weight:
  • Length: 68 (6 feet, 8 inches / 2.03m). This is a compact and versatile length for finesse fishing. It is long enough to cast small lures a good distance but short enough to be highly maneuverable for working lures with precision, particularly in tight spaces.
  • Casting Weight: 1-6g. This is an ultra-light casting weight, placing the rod firmly in the finesse fishing category. It is specifically designed to cast and work very small lures, such as micro jigs, tiny soft plastics, small spinners, and ultra-light crankbaits.
• Guides: The rod is fitted with SeaGuide LS guides. SeaGuide is a reputable manufacturer of fishing rod components, and their guides are known for their durability and excellent performance. They are lightweight, have a smooth insert for minimal line friction, and are braid-friendly, which is essential for modern finesse fishing.
• Handle & Reel Seat: The rod features an ergonomic reel seat (often a VSS-type) that provides a secure and comfortable grip. The handle is made from high-grade EVA, which is a durable material that provides a comfortable grip even when wet. The split-grip handle design further reduces weight and enhances the rods overall balance.
• Action: The rods fast action provides exceptional feedback from the lure, allowing the angler to feel every subtle knock and inquiry from a fish. The sensitive tip is ideal for detecting the most delicate of bites, while the power in the butt section provides the necessary leverage to handle and land a surprised fish.
