Savage Gear Orange LTD 4000 Spinning Reel

The Savage Gear Orange LTD 4000 is a high-performance spinning reel designed for anglers who demand both striking aesthetics and rugged reliability. Engineered to be the perfect companion for the Orange LTD rod series, this reel creates a balanced, professional-grade combo that stands out on the water.

Constructed with a Graphite Reinforced Composite (GRC) body and rotor, the Orange LTD 4000 achieves the difficult balance of being incredibly lightweight for all-day casting while maintaining the structural integrity needed to fight hard-pulling predators. Internally, the reel is packed with Savage Gears elite technology, including DuraGrease, which ensures the gearing remains smooth and protected against corrosion and heavy wear in both fresh and saltwater environments.

The standout feature of this reel is the Friction Control Drag system. By utilizing premium carbon fiber washers, the drag offers a silky-smooth release of line, preventing heart-breaking snap-offs when a fish makes a sudden lunge at the net.

Where to Use

The 4000 size is the workhorse of the range, offering enough line capacity and cranking power for a variety of demanding scenarios:

• Heavy Lure Fishing: Ideal for targeting Pike or large Zander with bigger soft plastics and swimbaits.

• Inshore Saltwater: A fantastic choice for Bass fishing from the rocks or piers where a corrosion-resistant, powerful drag is essential.

• Salmon Spinning: Perfectly suited for spinning in medium to large rivers where you need the strength to control fish in fast-flowing water.

Pro Tip

To maximize the lifespan of your Orange LTD, always give the drag knob a half-turn loosen after your session. This relieves pressure on the carbon fiber washers, ensuring they maintain their silky compression strength for years of reliable use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this reel suitable for saltwater use?

Yes. While it is primarily a lure fishing reel, the use of GRC materials, steel bearings, and DuraGrease makes it highly resistant to the elements. Always rinse with fresh water after saltwater use.

What makes the SST handle better than standard handles?

The SST (Super Strength Tight) handle is CNC machined directly from aluminum. Unlike push-through handles, this design threads directly into the gearing, eliminating play or wobble for a much more direct and powerful winding feel.

Does it come with a spare spool?

The Orange LTD 4000 is supplied with one high-quality CNC machined aluminum spool designed for optimal line lay with braided lines.
