RIO Backing Spool Strong, Smooth, and Dependable

RIOs traditional Dacron braided backing offers a perfect balance of strength, low stretch, and knotability. With a tighter weave than most, yet still loose enough to allow easy blind splice loops, this backing delivers excellent performance without the frustrations of other ultra-thin alternatives. Its the trusted choice for anglers who demand reliability in a clean, consistent spool that pairs seamlessly with any fly reel setup. Whether you’re chasing trout, salmon, or tarpon, the RIO Backing Spool provides the durability and peace of mind you need when a fish runs deep.
